Q: Will Mount Holly Fire & Rescue come out and inspect, check or install a smoke detector for me?

A: Mount Holly Fire & Rescue will come out to your residence if you live in the Mount Holly City limits and check your existing smoke detector, replace the battery (if applicable), install a new smoke detector or assist you with installing a new one.

Q: Will Mount Holly Fire & Rescue give me a free smoke detector?

A: Mount Holly Fire & Rescue will supply you with a new smoke detector if you meet the criteria set forth by the Gaston County Fire Marshall’s office within the smoke detector program. The smoke detectors are supplied to us by the Gaston County Fire Marshall’s Office through a program especially for smoke detectors.

Q: How do I know if I meet the criteria?

A: Call the Gaston County Fire Marshall’s Office at 704-866-3355 and advise them you need a smoke detector and they will ask you a series of questions. Once that is completed, the Fire Marshall’s Office will forward the information to us and we will come out and install your detector.

Q: Will Mount Holly Fire & Rescue install or inspect my childs restraint system?

A: A Child Restraint System, commonly called a carseat, can be checked or installed by trained personnel at Mount Holly Fire & Rescue HQ’s station at 433 Killian Ave. This can be done Monday thru Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. If you need a seat checked and cannot come by during the week, call during the week and one of our certified personnel will set up a time to meet you here after 5 or on the weekend. Q: Will Mount Holly Fire & Rescue give me a free carseat?  

A: We participate with North Carolina Safekids Coalition. The program set forth does not “give away” free carseats however if you meet a certain criteria, we can provide you with a seat for a donation to the North Carolina Safekids Coalition of $10.00.
