The Fire Marshal's Office (FMO) is located at 433 Killian Avenue. The FMO is staffed by Fire Marshal, Bob Nightingale, is certified International Fire Code Inspectors. The FMO is charged with the responsibility of fire code enforcement and fire investigation in the City of Mount Holly with assistance from Gaston County Fire Marshal's Office.

FIRE INSPECTIONS

The FMO annually inspects commercial, industrial, and public buildings for fire hazards. Fire hazards may be reported to the fire department by calling 704-822-2927. More information below.

NEW CONSTRUCTION

By permit, fire and life safety plan reviews and inspections are conducted on all new construction projects in Mount Holly. Permits are also issued for all fire alarms and sprinkler systems installed in Mount Holly.

HAZARDOUS VEGETATION

The fire prevention division is responsible for inspecting land that has an accumulation of tall grass or brush.

RESIDENTIAL SPRINKLER SYSTEMS

FIRE INSPECTIONS

The Fire Marshal Office enforces the current edition of the North Carolina International Fire Code. Annual fire inspections are performed on most Mount Holly businesses. If you have a complaint regarding a possible fire code issue please call or e-mail our office.

In addition to permits issued by the Gaston County Building Department, the Fire Marshal Office issues permits and conducts plan reviews and inspections for Fire Code compliance on new construction, alterations, or change in use and installation or alteration of fire and life safety systems. Permits are also issued to maintain, store, use or handle materials, or to conduct processes which produce conditions hazardous to life or property, or to install equipment used in connection with such activities.

Fire protection equipment such as fire alarms, sprinkler systems, commercial cooking equipment, etc. are required to have an annual inspection and test of the system. (Semi-annual for commercial hood systems) by a qualified individual. Inspection and test reports are required to be sent to the fire department.
