Welcome to the Office of the City Engineer!

The City Engineer provides engineering services to various City departments, falling into the following categories:

  • new City projects
  • infrastructure improvements
  • repairs
  • residential and commercial plan review
Engineering services include infrastructure planning, design, contract administration, construction management, and construction site inspections. City-owned infrastructure includes the water distribution system, the wastewater collection system, water, and wastewater treatment plants, roadways and drainage facilities. The Office of the City Engineer works closely with State government agencies and regional partners on issues directly impacting the citizens of Mount Holly.

The City Engineer serves as a technical resource for Mount Holly citizens and City departments and is available for consultation with citizens concerning City-owned infrastructure. The City Engineer also serves as a liaison to other government agencies at the local, regional, State and National levels. As an engineering resource for the City, the following elements of the Office are intended to improve the health, safety, and welfare of our citizens, visitors, corporations and businesses.

Site inspection involves The City inspecting private development on public infrastructure, including streets, drainage, water and sewer, in accordance with City ordinances and State laws. The inspector serves as a liaison between The City and developers that have projects in progress.  

Site inspection responsibilities include recommending construction solutions to resolve construction problems; making field inspections of private and public projects throughout the construction process; working with consulting engineers on public and private projects; performing quality assurance inspections; investigating and responding to citizen complaints; approving bond estimates.
