Community Engagement

The Mount Holly Police Department prides itself on the variety of community programs that officers participate in and offer to the community.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
MHPD hosts National Night Out (NNO) annually on the first Tuesday in August. This event promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

MEALS ON WHEELS
The MHPD partners with Burge Memorial United Methodist Church where officers and staff members volunteer to deliver meals, to visit, and to conduct safety checks on participating senior citizens in our community. This program enables them to live with independence and dignity.

COFFEE WITH A COP
The MHPD partners with local businesses and Catawba Coffee, our local coffee shop, to host these informal events at least once a year. There is no agenda or speeches, just a chance for the community to ask questions, to voice concerns, and to get to know our officers who patrol their neighborhoods or businesses.

OFFICERS ON THE ROOF
Officers sat on top of the Mount Holly McDonald's as part of a fundraiser that supported the Shop with a Cop Christmas Program to provide holiday gifts for children and to buy gifts for their immediate family members as well. McDonald's also donated 10% of their profits to the program.

CHRISTMAS FOR SENIORS
Each year at Christmas, our officers distribute treat bags filled with goodies to the residents of our local rest home, Woodlawn Haven.

NO SHAVE NOVEMBER/DON'T SHAVE DECEMBER
The MHPD participates in a fundraiser where male officers pay a predetermined amount of money in order to grow facial hair for the month of November. The Police Department then gives total donations to the Cancer Services of Gaston County. As a cancer services organization, they offer resources and support for cancer patients and their caregivers. All of their services are free of charge to local residents in the Gaston County area. They build a safety net for those living with cancer and their families. On average, the officers raise approximately $500.00 for this cause.
