First Annual Gaston Gran Fondo Cycling Event
It’s safe to say COVID-19 threw a big wrench in the plans for the First Annual Gaston Gran Fondo. The event coordinators have been working closely with the City of Mount Holly and several local businesses and had big plans for the inaugural ride. With the uncertainty surrounding bike rides and public gatherings, they were forced to postpone until next year. However, they are not going to let COVID get the best of the situation!
The "virtual" Fondo preview ride will be held on Saturday, October 3. There will be no organized activities, but they plan to ride the Medio route (about 45 miles) from the Municipal Complex in Mount Holly departing at 9:00 am. They ask that all groups that ride together remain under 10 riders and masks be worn in the parking area if there is any congregation before or after the ride. You can also choose to ride the route separately or even at home through your smart trainer.
Registration for the ride costs $10 and 100% of profits will go to benefit the Mount Holly Community Development Foundation. Link to the route will be provided with registration. Additionally, all 2020 participants will receive a discount code for next year’s event.
We look forward to seeing you on October 3 and can’t wait for the full event next year.
