Mount Holly City Council Appoints Miles Braswell as City Manager

Mount Holly, NC – The Mount Holly City Council announced on Monday evening that it had selected Miles Braswell as the new City Manager, after the announcement of Danny Jackson’s retirement late last month. He started his new role on November 1.
“We are fortunate to have someone with Miles’ experience to lead the City. He has been groomed for this transition over the past several years and is ready to take this step in his career,” says Mayor Bryan Hough.
Miles Braswell has 20 years of local and state government experience, previously working for the City of Charlotte and Gaston County Schools before joining the administrative staff of the City of Mount Holly in 2014. He was promoted to Assistant City Manager in 2016.
Miles, a graduate of North Carolina State University, holds a variety of certifications and designations including a Municipal Administration Certificate from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, School of Government (2018), University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, School of Government LGFCU Leading for Results Fellow (2016), and a Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI) designation of Real Property Administrator (RPA designation, 2011). Additionally, he is a graduate of Gaston Together’s Civic Engagement Leadership (CEL) program.

I am fortunate to work with such a great City staff and to be able to lead this team to carry out the vision and will of Council. I also want to congratulate Danny Jackson for this thirty-plus year employment with the City of Mount Holly and his approaching retirement. Mr. Jackson is an excellent mentor and friend and I am blessed to have had his guidance over the years.”
Miles and his wife Erin recently celebrated their twenty-year anniversary and are the proud parents of three children: Mason, Reese, and Riley. They attend South Point Baptist Church in Belmont, North Carolina. A member of the Rotary Club of Mount Holly since 2016, Miles is the current President-Elect and past Treasurer.
The City Manager is responsible for the overall guidance and management of all City Departments and affairs and works to unite different organizations within the community while providing excellent customer service to the citizens.
The City Manager is appointed by the City Council and serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the City of Mount Holly. The City Manager is responsible for the daily administration of the City and provides professional leadership in the management and execution of policies and objectives formulated by the City Council. The City Manager develops and recommends alternative solutions to community problems for City Council consideration, appoints and supervises all department directors, and makes final investigations of citizen complaints. The City Manager also directs the administration of personnel relations and participates in intergovernmental relations that affect the City of Mount Holly and its constituents. The City Manager’s Office also provides staff support services to the City Council.
